Location? Southern California.
Favorite series/movies? (minimum - 5, maximum - 10) (Explaining why may help us in the decision making process)
Gensomaden Saiyuki- I has loved Saiyuki for a while now, and I think it'll always be one of my favorite series. Yes, I watch the dub, but I think it's one of the better dubs out there. I love the plot lines and the characters. They're all really fun and easy to get attached to. Gojyo is my favorite. :D
Bleach- HUGE Bleach fan. I mostly adore the characters, because the soul society arc really got a little too stretched out for my tastes, but I read through it anyway, and I can't believe how amazing that story is. I love the music too, and quincies freaking rock. :D
Naruto- I like Naruto for more then just the awesome fighting. I adore the characters too. My favorites are Sasuke, Shikamaru and Rock Lee. I'm not gonna lie, this series is long and popular out the ass, but I like it a lot. There's a reason it's popular. XD
Hunter x Hunter- Ahh, now I love lesser known Shounen-Jump anime/manga. I first fell in love with this when I found out Yoshihiro Togashi had more then just Yu Yu Hakusho, so I jumped on Hunter x Hunter and liked it more then Yu Yu Hakusho. XD Killua is my favorite. And I love this anime to death.
Honey & Clover- Have my children if you have seen this and adore it. This anime has so many good things about it. It's not crazy popular, the art is amazing and the story is both hilarious and emotional. I can't pick my favorite, because they're all just so amazing. But I'll go with Mayama.
Samurai Champloo- No, I do NOT watch Samurai Champloo on TV. I HATE the dub and I HATE Mugen's voice. I love the japanese version, and the Japanese version it is. I love Mugen, and I love how funny the show can be. It's a really beautiful anime, and the story is amazing.
Least Favorite series/movie?
I don't really dislike any anime. There are some I don't watch because they bored me, but only one I truly hated, which was Hand Maid May. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the few girls who loves a good harem anime [Tenchi Muyo, Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, Ichigo 100%...etc] But Hand Maid May seemed like it just took all of those anime, and mooshed them into one, horrible, horrible cross over, and just stuck them all in skimpy maid uniforms. I didn't see...any change in characters, or even a steady plot line. It was just horrible.
Favorite scene/s from an anime (if you think there's a spoiler, name
the anime, and then type the description afterwards in a white font)?
My favorite scene, so far, out of everything, would be the Rock Lee VS Gaara fight in Naruto. My. God. I have never seen such a more mind blowing fight since Hiei fought Bui in the Dark Tournament.
Another to name, in Samurai Champloo [spoilers for the ending/highlight to read] In the last episode, when Jin and Mugen, are standing on the beach, their swords in hand, ready to charge each other, they run at each other and their swords break, and they pass out. I thought it was beautiful... ;__;
Favorite genre of anime?
Oh god, anything. xD I literally will watch any anime you put in front of me. Romance, Comedy, Drama, Mecha, Fighting, Old School, Live Action Anime, Magical Girl, Yaoi/Yuri, I will watch anything. To me, I don't think I would consider myself an anime fan if I linked myself to only one particular drama. I'm a very curious person, and if I did that, I'd stray away from it anyway.
Favorite anime soundtrack?
Either, all my Saiyuki Vocal Albums or the Wolf's Rain OST.
What was it that got you hooked on anime?
Pokemon and Tenchi Muyo. Mostly Tenchi Muyo got me hooked, but Pokemon made me realize there was anime out there.
Do you draw or write fan-fic?
Yes, yes I do. I write fanfictions more though. I write mostly for Saiyuki, but I've written Bleach, Chrno Crusade, Hunter x Hunter, Full Metal Alchemist, Peacemaker Kurogane, Fruits Basket, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gravitation, Samurai Champloo...a ton. I love writing. I draw a bit too.
I drew that for my friend Jenna, who is madly in love with Ishida from Bleach. xD
Would you consider yourself an Otaku?
Yes, I do all the time. I know it doesn't really mean "anime-fan" it means like, house or something. XD But, not the point. For our little definition of otaku, which is like, you stay in your room with nothing but a bag of chips and the entire series of Gundam Wing, and you party all night to Heero on emotional breakdowns and Relena's pink limo. :D So, yeah.
Do you read Manga (or anything similar)? If so, what series is your favorite?
Yes, I love manga!! <3333 I don't buy a whole lot of it, I mostly read it in the store like the cheapass that I am. But I buy, Gravitation, Wallflower, Cheeky Angel, Bleach, The Devil Does Exist and Death Note. I also have scanlations for Nana, Air Gear, Death Note, Bleach and Parfait Tic on my computer. But I also love Tsubasa Chronicle, Kaikan Phrase, &Yotsuba, Angel Sanctuary, Saikano and Hana-Kimi.
Do you attend anime(ish) conventions? If so, have you ever Cos-played?
Yes. I have gone to Anime Expo since 01, I believe. I went my first time, and bought a RyoOhki backpack that I still have and love and adore. I have cosplayed Gojyo from Saiyuki, Raito from Death Note and I'm currently working on Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicle, Rangiku from Bleach and Chiba from BECK.
Me as Gojyo, my friend Sammy as Goku.
I'm in the middle, as Raito. My friend Jenna as Misa, on the left and my friend Sammy as L on the right. My hair looks messed up because I had just got done rolling on the floor.
Me in my Orihime cosplay I've been working on. I haven't gotten my wig for it yet, so I just used my Gojyo one. xD
Do you own any cool anime-based stuff?
As a matter of fact, I do, I'll post pictures. :D
Yeah...and that's not even all of it. XD I just posted the important cool stuff. :D
How'd you hear about our community?
Otaku_Elite. :D I'm an accepted member there.
Subbed or dubbed(English)?
I don't really care honestly. I watch some things subbed, some things dubbed. Because watching things only subbed, kind of limits you, and same with only watching dubs. And I don't like that. Both for me, either one is fine. I mean, some dubs I absolutely hate [Naruto, One Piece, Saiyuki Reload, Azumanga Daioh, DNAngel...list goes on.] and some subs I didn't really care for because I liked the dub a whole lot, [Wolf's Rain, Peacemaker Kurogane...] But, both. :D
For one day, and one day only, Non-Ugly Anime has granted you the power to become an anime character. Who are you?
Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo. I love her, so much. :D Hands down, I'd be her in a second. Second choice would be Integra Wingates Hellsing from Hellsing. She's awesome too.
Series you are trying to finish right now?
Read Or Die TV, Elfen Lied, I'm trying to catch up in Naruto, Ichigo 100%, MaRChen Awakens Romance, Tokyo Underground, Mahoromatic, Tsubasa Chronicle...I have a lot. xD
Series that you keep coming back to?
I've been coming back to Yu Yu Hakusho and Tenchi Muyo a lot. I'm starting to come back to Pokemon. That show was so cool. xD
Why do you enjoy anime as opposed to other types of "shows"?
Yeah, in a way. Nothing can really compare to Family Guy and South Park and the Simpsons though. I'm also a slave to VH1.
If you could take any anime male/female to bed with you for one night, who would it be?
Mugen from Samurai Champloo. He's freakin hottttttt. <333333
Do you watch AMVs? If so, which one is your favorite?
The Fellowship of the Yen. It's an Azumanga AMV. It's so, hilarous. xD
Do you approve of all the anime that is being brought to Cartoon Network? Why or why not?
No, I don't. I think that anime should be left unedited. I don't think certain creators really like their anime loosing certain vital points that really add to the show, and by taking out or editing things, it really loses the feel of how the show is supposed to go. For example, I have heard rumors that they were going to show Chrno Crusade on Adult Swim, completely eradicating the religious references. When the whole plot of the show, IS religious, and thus ruining the entire point of the anime that Daisuke Moriyama had planned from the start.
Showing anime on TV is fine, but editing it, I think it's wrong.
Anything you would like to say to prove that you're actually an
anime fan, or something to make you stand out to us as far as anime is concerned? Also, what will you bring to this community if accepted?
Hmmm, I honestly don't know. I guess I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to anime. Like, I know released dates, recent licenses, and things like that. I practically live at animenewsnetwork.com. I just like knowing what's going on in the anime world, and what's coming out, what's being translated, price drops, ratings, and all that cool stuff. I guess not a lot of anime fans know about that kind of stuff, so I feel kind of special when I find all these things out. And it's actually pretty interesting. :D
I don't know what I'll bring to the community of course, I guess livejournal icons, I love making those. And little news tidbits of course and such. :D
Please post at least 3 pictures of yourself, and a 100x100 incase you get accepted. No links please.
